Hope this is the right spot for this. I want to host a website on a Win XP Home machine. No IIS so I need third party software. Any suggestons? I know there is an Apache build for windows, but I also remember that it is slow. Any suggestions? Also needs to support PHP. Thanks.
could you build another machine, running a 'nix, with apache and php? Any p166 or p200 will do. Trying to cobble something to winxp home is the hard way.
Apache is not slow. Try it. Especially for small sites, it will be enough. Hell, if you want to run a website off of a desktop machine, you should not be complaining about Apache being slow 😛
Just incase you did not know, you can not have more than 5 incomming connections to a XP home box at once. That will include web acces and local network shares.
