Web Hosting Help...

I don't understand what is domain name transfering and how they work.

Let's say I bought a domain name from Godaddy.com, I want to host it from another place like...freewebhosting.com. Does that mean that i have to transfer my domain name to that place? If yes, then what's the point of buying a domain name from godaddy when you have to host with them or else you have to pay for the domain name transfer.

You pay Godaddy to register your domain. You then find a place to host your site. You get the name servers from said place and inform godaddy of those servers.

I bought my domain from godaddy and am having it hosted on www.3-95.com

No matter where you buy domains (I use Dotster), the procedure is the same. Once you sign up for hosting, you login to your registrars website and in your account control panel (or whatever its called), you change the name servers. The name servers tell where the site is located. Just as with contact info, the name servers can be queried here.

What they said.

Once you have a host, you have to go where you registered your name and put in your dns pointers. Ask your host what the dns address will be, take that to your registrar and enter it. (there should be two dns numbers, a primary and secondary)
