Web Hosting (good and cheap)?

What's a good web host to go with these days? I'm looking for something that's relatively low traffic for a personal site, doesn't cost too much, but is a good company to deal with. It'd also be nice if they played nice with google apps for your domain. Any recommendations?

I recommend Hawk Host. I've been with them for over a year, they are awesome. Very fast support and they have blazing fast servers. The servers were a TAD sluggish in the fall but not to the point of anyone complaining, so what do they do? Upgrade the living hell out of them into some crazy machines.

Also VivicalHosting is run by an ATer.

For a personal site, just find whatever might be least expensive at this time. You need to check out the Hot Deals forum or Fatwallet's Hot Deals or Slickdeals and see what host might be running some specials.

I've done Surpasshosting, Netfirms, and Dreamhost for my personal sites when they've had $10/year deals going on. You just need to bail after the first year so you don't end up paying $100+/year.

I'm with Cookiehost now, and I've been with them for two years. I'm happy enough with Cookiehost. The price isn't bad with the 30% off code, but you can do better.

I pay $15/mth for HostGator, but I'm also on a server with ChiliASP and some other premium services I use. It's still quite a deal for me, it's never gone down, it's pretty fast, and their support is nice and quick (and usually pretty useful).

I can't find the original cookiehost deal, but do they play nice with google apps?

Another vote for Hostgator (starts at $5/mo if you pay for 3 years in advance). I've gone with the cheap $20/year hosts (many years ago) but they've always managed to suck or go under. I decided to just pay up for a decent host so I don't have to worry about it.
