Web host with good webmail features

I'm looking for web hosts with good email support. Something that's stable and been around for a while. I want to setup my family with their own email addresses from a family domain. Web space really isn't important - it'd only host a small html page or two.

So which hosts have the best webmail features? Something easy where I can just get the email boxes running, show the family how to use them, and forget about it.

I love all the bashing of 1and1. I have a personal account, and run a business account - they are both awesome.

Always up, always fast, (yes, including the control panel) and features/prices that no other host can beat.

I had to call support once @ 3:00AM, phone answered on 2nd ring, answer given.

I'm sure they got to be the biggest web host in EU because they suck so bad.

Stick with the nichey "hey I just got a reseller account and i will give you the best service evar" noobs, and don't cry when they fold and you have to answer to some very pissed off family members.

Great Pricing, features and Service

addaction.net just updated their horde mail. its very nice. i've been using the intergrated newsreader a lot.

You're one of the first people I've seen say that. cPanel updated their horde version so all of our servers were forced to upgrade as well and I have yet to receieve one positive response about it, everybody hates it 🙁. We are looking into a way to get the old one back, but most of the users use email, not the newsreader functions.

i haven't really had any problems with the email aspect of it. i most of my settings after the upgrade, but once i changed them to how i wanted it, its not all that different.

yes. 1and1 has excellent support (even for free accounts) and they are already established worldwide.

i just couldn't get myself to like the control panel which is not exactly intuitive, and how changes were implemented hours after i did the change (this might apply only to the free accounts).

I started with 1and1 purely because a good friend is now in a high place in the UK branch HQ.

Ever since then there are other hosts that offer things cheaper and often with 1 or 2 extra features, but none of them can match the support that 1and1 offer and none of them can match the uptime.

In 5 years I think I've had 3 periods of downtime with 1and1, the longest lasting ~ 30 seconds.

Most of the people that despise them and say they're crap are people with 3 year free hosting packages, go figure.

1and1 sucks IMHO.

DougK62 - Most importantly what is your monthly or annual budget?

If you can afford $5.95/mo you can host several domains, each has their own webmail interface, etc.

Just so you know, you can't put anything other than small family pics on 1and1's server. Bunch of asses they are. You should get e-rice's $5/YEAR webhosting plan. 50MB space - 5GB/mo transfer. *All static plans include 1 FTP account, 5 mailboxes, Domain Zone Manager, and nothing else.

I'm on addaction thanks to some friendly advice. Been there for two years, has worked out great. I do like the new version of horde too... a few more graphics but I do like it. Oh, yeah, so addaction has squirrelmail, horde, and neomail. I redirected webmail.mydomain.com to go specifically to horde's login so it's easy for people to use.

Webhosts are a "you get what you pay for" operation (RossMAN quote) so watch out for the $10/yr places... I got burned by expecting too much from ripplehost years ago.

Addaction.net has a special where you can sign up for $49/yr for as long as you pay yearly. I went with the 6 months free and then $6.95/mo after deal before they ran the $49 special... wish I had that now as I don't want to change hosts anytime soon. There's also referral deals with addaction which I think have enabled some well known webhosting types to get free hosting.

Joe - How ya doing?

AddAction.net is a solid web host, they host PlanetHzl.com forums with good speed and uptime.

Their $49.90/yr plan is a good deal for 500MB/20GB with cPanel.
