so i made a simple page for a man who sells leather goods (belts, jackets, hats, etc)

he sells them on ebay, so i made the page so that there is a product list, and every link on the list links to the item on ebay...only problem is the page needs CONSTANT updates because the auctions are always ending/product list is always changing....

first he wanted me to show him how to update himself.... we tried that... he couldnt understand it for the life of him..so finally he agreed to just let me keep it up to date... cool right? WRONG, first i agreed to keep it always updated for $40 a week, which i thought was a fair price.... now he's bitching because he says im to expensive....so i agreed to $40 every two weeks... which is way lowballing my usual prices... but still, he finds something to bitch about.... even though im working my ass off keeping this page updated every time an auction ends/product list changes..... GAH! this guy is such a cheapass....

oh well, just venting... if he doesnt quit bitching and just be happy im just gonna quit updating it all together, see how he likes that (it would make his page useless)

Clearly web design is too hard. Maybe you should go back to selling drugs, or misrepresenting yourself on internet forums.

Do what that guy did that didn't get paid his $500. But don't be too harsh. Just keep the website as-is without any updates until guy pay what you want to pay. $40 a week or two isn't that bad if he's an entrepreneur.

The other guy wasn't getting paid on agreed terms. This guy is just bitching.. if the OP does anything it should be to quit working for him.

zane, couldn't you just have a snippet of code where it has the URL's, and have him open the file in Wordpad and update the URLs?

Try the Ebay API. You can probably query by username, then filter by active products by username. I haven't used it so I'm not sure what's in there.
You don't have to manually update it, but you don't have to tell him that so you'll have $40 every 2 weeks.

While this is indeed public information, I dont beleive the OP intended on it being shoved in front of other users. Please use a little more thought next time (for example, you could have made your point and still protected his privacy by selectively editing the info).

I really hate to be the ass, but that guy got ripped for $250. Badly. Very badly. I don't know how to code anything, but even I can make a site better than that using a WYSIWYG editor.

I would work with the guy if I were you, it's not hard to fix what he wants. I think I may know a way to explain it to him so he can do it himself.

Jesus zane, I can't get over how bad that site is. lol it's actually kind of funny :D
