Hey guys,
I know that I suck at webdesign so I'd like professionals (or semi-professionals) to redesign my film company's site. I don't have a large budget since I'm not making any money from my company yet, but I'm sure someone out there is up for the challenge. Here's the ad i posted on eLance. I got a lot of replies from eLance but I'd love to throw you guys some money if you've got the skills to pay the bills. I'd also love mockups - you can post them here or you can email me - sam@swbfilms.com. My budget is small, I know.. Maybe I can ad a few more bucks or something, though money is tight.

A group of 3 people including myself will check out this forum and eLance in 8 days and will make a decision on the 9th- payment will be made via paypal before the site is delivered. Fair?

Thanks!

Here's the ad I placed on eLance:
We're Shallow Wastebin Films - a very low budget NY indie film studio. We're trying have have a presence on the web, only we really suck at web design. We don?t have a lot of money since we?re all slacker film makers. OK, we?re not slackers but we put a lot of money into the project and honestly don?t have much left for our site. So help us make our site indie and edgy looking and we?ll buy you brownies! Special brownies! OK, we can pay you as well?

Thanks!

Here's a follow up I sent to answer some questions. Please ask any other questions in the thread so that the answers could be public.

Thanks!
Hey!
Thanks for placing an offer ? I really appreciate all the time and energy all of you guys are putting into this. I apologize for writing a mass email but I?m a busy fellow and it?ll take me forever to contact everyone. I can assure you that I look over everyone?s portfolio and like what I see so far. The problem is that most (ok, all) of your portfolios contain very tradition designs. Some seem to be from templates. While I do not have a lot to spend, I still would like something fresh and hip. I know that you guys are very busy but I will need to see a mock up to see if you guys have the design skills to pull this off. A sketch drawn on a bar napkin would be fine ? I know a lot of geeks who know HTML so I?m sure you guys can handle the techie side. I just need to be sure that you have a creative eye and a unique vision.

Thanks very much and hope to hear from you all soon!

http://www.swbfilms.com ? site to be redesigned
http://www.shallowwastebin.com ? our other site, the non-profit part of the group. We need to redesign it but don?t have the money right now. Use the site to see what we?re about.

Design suggestions:
You guys are the artists so please just use this as suggestions. I?d like to go for a fun/funky/ punk rock look. Rebellious yet professional, edgy without being juvenile. A logo is not necessary but if you have an idea for a great one, by all means, go for it. I need the site to be clean, easy to read, and fun to navigate. We?ll eventually be adding staff bios but, other than that, the site?s layout will remain the same as what?s up there.

Thanks!

Well, I'm hoping an amateur looking to get something nice on their portfolio and a link on my site would jump at this... If not, so be it. Lots of people from india/pakistan bid $150-200 on designing the site already, I just would rather give some money to my fellow ATOT geeks.

wow flash site for $150 ? Good flash designers charge $75/hr alone... (I don't know how some of you justify charging that much for lesser skills as a freelancer)... anyway, most won't do a regular HTML site unless it's at least $500... hence the lack of motivation.
