Web Check in regedit?

what does web check folder in regedit do? and can/should i find and delete it? to speed surfing.

Where have you seen this? Under MSCONFIG?

Normally web check, or loadwc.exe is loaded in the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run key.

What loadwc.exe does is perform the function of "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is default" on the Programs page of the Internet Options under Control Panel.

Disable the setting in the Control Panel, and then reboot. loadwc should disappear from the Start Up.

It makes no difference to surfing.
