Web Cam and AOL Instant Messenger

I am trying to get my web cam working so that I can share some time with my family for Christmas.
I have a built in web cam on my laptop (Vista Home Premium). I installed AIM because all of us already have AOL screen names so it was the easiest way to go.
Web cam works fine on the laptop. I tested by logging into AIM using another screen name on my PC (XP Pro). Everything seemed to go as it should with making the connection between the 2 screen names. However, as soon as a second or 2 of video feed came through to the PC, the video screen would lock up on the PC. IM's continue to work fine, only the video freezes.
I am on the same home network with both computers while testing the video conferencing. Could that be the problem?
Any other ideas?

try update your webcam driver...what brand name and model is your webcam? I never done with AIM before but you could try new Oovoo webcam IM client it is free.

I will have to check the web cam brand. It is built into the laptop. The PC that is freezing up doesn't have any web cam, it is just receiving the video from the laptop web cam. That video that is being received is what freezes.
I will try sending to a PC on a different network and if that doesn't work I will try something other than AIM.
Thanks for your suggestion.

If your laptop is from HP I heard there a lot of reports about webcam built in on some programs. I will give you a link if it is a HP
