web analytics software

Some piece of software to show us analysis of the kind of people visiting our site is showing interesting results:

1. More than 50% are using Windows NT. Since there is no separate listing for Vista or Windows 7 (but there is for XP), I am assuming that somehow those OS's are getting identified as NT (I think they are based on NT 6.0 anyway).

2. More than 50% are using Netscape Navigator 4.0. WTF? Internet Explorer, Mozilla, and Chrome all show as distinct results.

Either our analytics software is just plain wrong, or, what I'm hoping is more likely, it is mis-classifying certain data. The third possibility is that I am just that out-of-touch with the reality of web browser usage, but I'm sure I've read several times over the past 10 years how IE dominates and Mozilla is slowly gaining significant ground. Netscape Navigator 4 came out in 1996. I can't believe more than half of our visitors are still using it. Anyone have any guesses?

Can you get to the logs yourself? I'd say the software is just really confused, there's so many possible user agents they probably just have a regexp incorrect or something.
