Web address drop down bar for Chrome?

OK so I decided to try the 64 bit version of Chrome because IE11 is having issues with NVidia's latest drivers in hardware acceleration mode, and I like it. It's ridiculously fast, although it seems to use more resources than IE11..

Anyway, one of the things I hate about Chrome is that there is no drop down bar for web addresses. It doesn't store urls so that I can quickly access my favorite websites..

Is there a way to enable this function somehow?

I'm not aware of any way to get a drop down bar. Provided you're not using incognito for everything it should get rather good at learning and predicting what you want just from typing a few letters.

I've never really used the drop down feature in the other browsers but couldn't a similar thing be done with a folder in the bookmark bar (which always gets shown on new tab pages)? That sounds like the same thing just done slightly differently although I may be misunderstanding what you want or what the drop down feature does.

i didnt realize IE still did that. chromes auto-complete based on search and url history is very good

and also...bookmarks

IE11 does the same auto-complete or universal search bar function that Chrome has, but it also still has the drop down menu..

Anyway, in the end I just used the bookmarks bar function. I don't like to have to type anything to go to my favorite websites which I check on a regular basis, but the bookmarks bar is very similar to the IE's drop down menu so it's all good now
