weather spotters needed - southern Illinois**EDIT** no longer trapped

No Lifer
is it snowing? ice? how are the interstates? what is the local weatherman saying?

i am supposed to leave KC this afternoon , we were hoping to get to Paducah by 9 pm

am i doomed?

Good Luck. It's probably going to be pretty bad, not so much the roads as the idiots driving on them.(you should be free and clear until st louis) I'm somewhat lucky as I'm heading north from central MO this afternoon. Will be heading into clear but cold weather.

ok , this sucks
it is 4 am, all the motels in paducah are full, i am sitting in the parking lot of a gas station

the only good news, we didn't slide off the road, we passed about 50 cars in the ditch, but we didn't crash

i guess i have to keep driving, but it looks like ice instead of snow ahead 🙁

best of luck to you. it took me forever to get to work/ back home in ohio

now i am REALLY screwed. we are trapped on I-24 east/south of paducah

we are still on the road , but traffic has stopped. they have either shutdown a bridge or something ahead of us or somebody crashed and blocked the road

i had to get out and piss on the road

please remind me how stupid i am, we should have stayed at the gas station. we have a full tank of gas, but it is going to stay cold, so sunrise in an hour or two isn't going to help much

this blows 🙁

That sucks. I live a little farther east, over near Lexington. I'm looking out the window right now, and we have a minor dusting if that. I'm sure there is some ice out there somewhere too, but I guess I'll find out heading to work in an hour. Just watching the weather was crazy last night, as in southeastern KY, it was 55 degrees, but less than 100 miles northwest, it was 20 and snowing 2" an hour. Pretty crazy. Where I live, we apparently were right on the line of the rain/ice/snow, and it looks like it stayed that way.

update
a plow came through about half an hour ago and cleared the inside lane, but all that has happened is people have clogged that lane up

we heard on the radio that I-24 is backed up something like 30 miles. i am afraid we are in the back of that. i don't know. is anyone hearing anything on the TV or radio?

this is so bad 🙁

This probably doesn't help, but it's all I could find. The Paducah TV station web sites haven't been updated today.

Road conditions in Kentucky, call 1-866-737-3767, or 511 from your cell phone.
News/talk radio stations in the area: 570 AM and 1320 AM

the good news, no longer trapped

the bad news, still in paducah

but we have a reservation at the comfort suites (i am typing this from the "business center" in the lobby)

Now in my room 😛
