I don't know what the hell is going on this year, but it seems like weather prediction has gone down the tubes. I routinely see the listings more than 10 degrees off.. Sometimes it's up to 30 degrees off.. (weather.com)

They issued a freeze warning for Gainesville.. yet the range listed is 47-68 degrees.. Shouldn't they attempt to explain this?

I can understand wind chill.. but geez..

This seems like one of the coldest winters we've had in FL for a while now.. yet CNN keeps saying this is the warmest year on record. Argh.

29 deg.! Just rode my bike to work. Heavy frost at home.

I think it is warmer as a whole than usual. We are getting drops, but for awhile now we've had 70's for highs. Like today it's supposed to get near 70, and saturday 78.

OBLIGATORY... he's not complaining about the temp, but how much the weather predictions are off.

It's actually been freakishly warm up here in MA the last few weeks (50s)

There's your problem. National weather service website ftw.

I think you misinterpret the weather channel (or weather.com). It is an odd system that they use.

For tomorrow's weather, they list (1) the highest predicted temperature for all of tomorrow and (2) the lowest predicted temperature for all of tomorrow. Same goes for all other future days.

For today's weather, they list (1) the highest predicted temperature for all of today and (2) the lowest predicted temperature AFTER the high today has been reached (ie they exclude the morning low of today).

I can kind of see thier odd logic. Why predict a low for today that already occured hours ago? Prediction of the past is setting yourself up for ridicule and obvious prediction error checking. Of course, they should clarify when they post today's low and state clearly that it doesn't include morning lows.

😕Ditto here.

Last night's forecast for today: flurries clearing by afternoon.

This mornings forecast: 3-5 inches of snow, beginning at 9, through 6 this evening.

Its actually insanely warm up here this january...raining most of the time. Must be all of the warm whether got sent up here. Fvck yeah.

Also...going down the tubes? Don't you mean "has been down the tubes...since they started doing it?"

Seriously, I think I'd have a higher percentage of accurate weather predictions myself if I just went on there and said every single day all year long and said "Partly sunny, small chance of percipitation".
