Weather know-it-alls: what did I just see?

Sorry, no pics. Didn't have my camera handy. That said, I was just outside watching a line of thunderstorms approach. Out ahead of it, I saw about 5 narrow, very clearly defined cloud bands. They were perfectly parallel to the storm itself, and to eachother. Each was a slightly different shade of brown or red.

The storm itself brought a very intense gust of wind (which caught me off guard and nearly knocked me over) but no meaningful lightning or rain, and passed over in about 2 minutes.

Anyone have and idea what this was?

Probably an Aurora fleet flying over. Pay it no heed. I said PAY IT NO HEED!

Around here (Central Massachusetts), a lot of times I see clouds in the sky that's just a bunch of parallel lines about 1/2 width as my finger if I hold it at arm's length.
