The PQ on streaming services can be fair to pretty good however most seem to have weak and flat sound even when DD+ is available. Anybody have some ideas for getting more oomph from the audio?

The only thing that comes to mind is
a)Use a service that keeps the HQ/ lossless audio intact, and
b)Ensure that you have a good AVR and your device does pass-through.

It would seem to be mostly up to the app developer/ stream provider...

I don't stream movies that I care about the sound in for that exact reason. The compressed audio coming from streaming services just can't compare to the audio you get from a bluray. Not worth ruining the movie for me personally.

It can be decent though. Like Narcos had some decent sound in some of the shootout scenes, but I didn't really have an option for that and I'm not waiting a year for it to hit bluray just to watch it.
