Ok, so pretty much, one of my friends told me to help him build a computer, since he doesn't know how or anything about how to build one... Nor about the current parts.

So I create him an AMD 64 list single core list on Excel... With the current deals available on slickdeals. fatwallet... etc...... He first tells me the budget $1100 AR, then after I make the list, $1100 before rebates... Ok sure... Then after I remake it, he says to make it a dual core list... So then I remodified it... He then tells me to buy him the motherboard on the list and he'll pay me back... Ok... I buy it...

Then he tells me to get rid of it since he wants a core 2 duo... WTF...
So being his friend, I remake the list again... I show him the list... He say he won't order from Zipzoomfly...

So then I go on Newegg to remodify the whole list once more...

Then he complains about the name of the hard drive (Western Digital Caviar)..., saying it was a stupid name and he doesn't want a stupid name like that in his computer... Yes its his money, but so annoying enough... Then says he doesn't like the monitor and stuff...

I'm doing this for free...
I hate picky people.
And now I have a motherboard which I have to either return or resell...
Or build myself a rig...

I'll just build it...

Cliffs...
Friend asks me to build a rig
He changes his mind over and over...
I'll just build the rig for him then. With someone else making the list

I hope next time you can say no and save yourself another weak rant here on ATOT.

This is the point I would have said tough, demanded my money from him and said to build it yourself. If he's really your friend, he wouldn't have done that. Sounds like a mooch and a loser if you ask me...

I can't believe you're still building it for him. I would've quit a long time ago.

Just tell him "I know more about computers than you do, I know what's best, let me make the decisions." If he doesn't comply then don't do it.

I find it hard to work on close family's computers.

And when I do, I make it clear I am building it, I am not a support system for them.

Tell your friends to buy an iMac and run bootcamp. If they don't know how to build their own system, tough.

I've gone through the same thing. Now I'll just ask the basics of what they want and I put together a list. If they don't like it, tough luck. Otherwise they'll suggest 50 million other sh*tty parts and then make me fully explain why I didn't pick them.

The worst mistake I ever made was building a computer for a friend. Every couple months I'd have to go fix it after he screwed it up. When he wanted to upgrade I told him to go buy a Dell. Never again.

And this is only the beginning. Once the system is complete, can't image the tech support you will need to provide.

doesnt he trust you enough to know that you'll make the best possible computer with the budget he gives you? I would only build a computer for someone who does trust me.

While it's fun to spend someone else's money and put the thing together, if they have a problem with THENAME of a product, they're buying computers for the wrong reason. Cut his nostril with a knife and tell him to lick the dog bowl.
