weak punishment...entire 8th grade class gets suspended

Not very cool. I would have taken some other measure. If you punish everyone, you don't have the power of singling out a few. That means that the kids won't feel as punished and they'll be able to explain to their parents that they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Heh.

I'm not really sure how anyone would truely respond to that... You have basically the whole school going nuts. Is he really going to take the time to meet all 600+ parents?

On the other hand, it WAS meatloaf day...

"Given an opportunity first to apologize for their behavior and help with the cleanup, most of the class refused to cooperate," school spokesman Vince McGaskill said.

That right there is reason for suspension. I would have then asked these kids parents to clean it up.

🙂

thats dumb... there was a huge food fight two years ago at my old school, they didnt do anything dumb like suspend an entire class, they just looked on the tapes from the cameras and saw who started it, suspending an entire class accomplishes nothing but giving them a few days off

"Principal Jada Meeks suspended students who were in the cafeteria during the fight" Screw around and get a day off.... I agree that this is a really weak punishment.
