Weak/low quality power supply causing corruption of system files?

I've had this problem since I got my new computer......from time to time (sometimes it would take a week, sometimes a month), the registry base files (system.dat and user.dat) would become corrupt for no appearent reason, so when I booted I couldn't get into windows. I've been fixing this by keeping them backed up on my 2nd harddrive, then fiddling around a bit in DOS, and being able to boot normally, but it's still very annoying.....and the other day, all sh1t hit the fan.....I got a BSOD when i tried to boot, the backup .dat files were corrupt too (ouch :Q) and although I could boot in safe mode and tried scandisk, SFC and all kinda stuff, nothing worked......had to do format and full reinstall.

i've been told that a bad power supply could cause this, can anyone confirm? here are full system specs, just in case:

CPU: Intel Pentium III 750E /w Golden Orb
Motherboard: Abit BE6-II

CD-Writer: HP 8210i 4x4x24
Floppy: Teac 3,5" 1.44 Mb

Monitor: 17" NoName
Keyboard: Keytronic MPR-II
Mouse: Logitech Wingman Gaming Mouse

PS: hehe for those who remember me, I've been away for a while......Everquest has been swallowing me like nothing else...it's almost insane :Q will try to stick around a bit more 🙂

I don't see any other way to fix your problem but the good ol standby of configuring a minimum system and adding components one at a time. Your symptoms are just as likely to be bad ram as a bad power supply. I would try maybe 1 stick of ram first.
