He seemed to leave out most of his childhood(elite european boarding schools), and almost ALL of his Senate career. He mention three small things in his Senate career. Thats the best he could come up with. Let me just laugh.

And he has given alot of half truths, or atleast things he doesnt have proof to back them up. His speech has been all rhetoric, claims, but no real plans. Its a good thing Camp Kerry has been down playign the importance of this speech. In other words all this speech is, is spin. And yes you can expect a full rebuttle by the GOP in tomorrows paper and tv news shows.

Double our Special Forces?

How, exactly? There is no shortage of soldiers vying to be one of the elite . . . the issue has always been the fact that only a very small number can cut it physically and psychologically.

Does he propose to lower standards?

Say what you will about him, but Kerry's far too smart to be proposing something so dumb.

Yeah I hear Bush was born and raised in TX or was it Connecticut? Bush excelled at a public high school and top public university or was it toiled at elite prep school and Ivy League? Bush was a pivotal player in dramatic education reforms and flush government coffers in TX or was it he inherited the most significant education reforms and emptied the flush government coffers?

Kerry volunteered for 'Nam and earned a Yale law degree which he used to serve the public.
Bush was drunk until 40 but did manage to use his acquired MBA to serve himself.

He really didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about at several points......................double special forces??? LOL! Like the guy above said.........the problem isn't from lack of those wanting to...............it's those whom actually are able to!

His speaking is better than Bush.........but this was not a good speech.................

I took it to mean that the program sizes would be doubled (in budget, training, etc) as well as the number of troops. Quite frankly I don't know enough about the program as it exists to comment on your point. Were you once in the special forces?

And you'll be here to parrot up the GOP's talking points instead of thinking for yourself. 🙂

Its not the physical aspects that separate candidates from Special Forces and the regulars, its the part about learning three languages in intimate detail inside of six weeks packed with the physical training. Most candidates are tough enough for the physical part of the training, they just cannot hack the real world survival aspects of the training.

That's not the SFAS and Q Course I remember. The Q Course is between 23 and 57 weeks depending on MOS and plus the language requirement is another 4-13 months on top of that. And if you think that "most" candidates are tough enough for the physical part of the training, why then is the selection rate so low? True, Selection isn't as tough as SEALS Hell Week, but it ain't a picnic either.
