Just watched We were soldiers movie.... Is it just me or is it the Vietnam version of BlackHawk Down???

I think these 2 movies are pretty much the same. It's just fighting in a different country/year.

I saw it twice. Not only is it a wonderfully made movie, it is one of the most moving stories I've ever read/seen/heard reguarding war and humanity. Very, very good movie.

And, no, it wasn't the same as BHD -at all.

Yeah I did like both of them. But I think that both have the same basis... I mean each one is about soldiers defending themselves in a foreign country....

Lol,

can you guys tell me where did I wrote that I didn't find the movie good??? It's not about saying if the movie was good or bad, not at all. I just started this post because I found funny that 2 movies talking about American Soldiers In foreign countries attacking/defending/whatever we're released pretty much the same time. (I'm already hearing guys that will say that there is more than 1 month between each movies but anyway it's closer than one year)

I did like We were Soldiers, really. But don't say that each movie is not about only one fight, because this IS the movie subjet... That's just what I was saying, no need to say that I'm stupid...

Don't worry about it, GeSuN. If you compare it to movies that suck in comparison, you'll get the typical ATOT response: flame.

If you think that's the main theme of We Were Soldiers, then you missed the entire point of the movie. Perhaps you should read the book.

I think he means defending themselves in a hostile country, while not having the support of the US people behind them.

From the commercials, We Were Soldiers looks crappy. It looks like a way overhyped, romanticized ewmotional crap story about some family relationship as people's sons go off to Vietnam. I haven't seen it, it just looks bad.

Best line:

"Good morning sir."
"I don't give a damn about what type of morning it is."

next day

"Good day sir"
"What are you now, a fscking weatherman?"

This movie was the subject of History vs. Hollywood on the History channel this morning. They had about eight guys that were there, and the general consensus was 80% history/20% Hollywood, which seems pretty good, especially for a big production like this.

Yup...that is a good ratio...Did they ever show Gettysburg on that? I figure it might be one of the higher ones

From Here

"Pvt. 2 Mark Good, Chalk Four's medic, was already at work on Blackburn. The kid had one eye shut. Blood gurgled from his mouth. Good inserted a tube down Blackburn's throat to help him breathe. Sgt. First Class Bart Bullock, a Delta medic, started an IV. Blackburn hadn't been shot, he'd fallen. He'd somehow missed the rope and plummeted."

Pretty good flick.. altho kinda predictable... and... of course people like it.. it plays on basic human emotion.. you cant go against that unless yer nuts....

and.. not at all like blackhawk down.. and are you serious? better then saving private ryan? NO WAY! SPR's action is SO much better!

Anyway, talking about these guys, they got a pretty good ratio! Damn I can't better than 5:1 in Counter-Strike and these guys cleaned a mountain of 4000 viets... They we're a couple of hundreds so... pretty nice ratio :p
