We survived Rita...!

We live in Bridge City TX which is about 6 miles west of Orange TX which got basicly flattened... We also took a hard hit but the line crews have worked like crazy to get us back up... We got power 2 days ago and just got cable, internet and phone...

We had evacuated on Thursday evening at 5pm and it took over 7 hours to reach the lakes area of our camp and then on Friday night/Saturday morning early had a 36" diameter pine tree fall on the camp... My mother and I suffered slight injuries but are ok... We fled to a nearby brick house in the height of the storm and huddled in the small brick house with 69 other people (9 of us) and waited till dawn to find the tree had smashed our 4 wheeler/ BMW roadster and even the boat...

We finaly made our way to our home 5 days later and found it to have survived but had water and debris in our attic from the roof ridge vent that was torn off... It smells like mildew but has gotten much better here lately... Things are returning to normal but it was quite a scare to say the least...

To any other Anantech members that went though this I hope all is well you and yours... We are just glad to be back and all alive...

Sincerly,
Bart (Bartman39)
