Well we survived...
We stayed at the Club Quarters hotel on Chestnut - not too bad. U2 concert was a kick - Party Suite tickets made it even nicer - no lines for the bathroom, very short wait for the bar, and a waiter that came around every so often... Well worth the $.
Most interesting moment - as I went to get the rental car from the garage yesterday morning, I walked past 2 kids on bikes and then a 3rd that was catching up to them. I went into the garage got the car and eventually made it around the block to pick her up. As I pull up she is talking to a cop in a car with someone in the back... I was like WTF? (hmm can I still say that in the "new culture"?) Before I can get out, the cop pulls off and she starts walking back to me. Turns out the 3 kids (probably 14ish) mugged the guy 25 yards behind me at gunpoint. The victim runs over to her asks for a phone, she doesn't have one on her, and then he remember he does. Apparently he was so upset that he forgot he had a phone on him. She says the cops were in less than a minute - 2 cars. 1 took off after the kids, the other stayed with the victim. Right before I pulled up, they had caught them and were asking her to come ID the kids. We had a flight out, so they took her name/number in case they needed it, but thought that the victim's id should be enough.
Yeah sure I'll buy one of those "From the $260's" condos they're advertising down the street. That's where I want to live... where I have to worry about 14 year olds riding bicycles mugging me at gunpoint.
