Wouldn't it be great if we didn't depend on the Middle East for oil? We could go back to being isolationists and stop trying to be police cop to the rest of the world. Then maybe we wouldn't step on any toes and have terrorists devoting their lives to blowing us up.

If indeed the terrorist acts today were planned by Osama Bin Laden or whatever anti-US group out of the Middle East, then what drove them to that? We do go in and strongarm the whole area when our oil supply becomes threatened. I would think if we were not involved in that so much, and also the whole Israel situation, then todays events would not have happened.

Of course I don't know for sure who is responsible, but I would like to see less involvement by us in world affairs. So what if it would cost a little more to tank up, we are spoiled by our gas prices. Prices in Europe are quite high for petrol. I say forget the rest of the world and bring on the electric car.
 
actually, you hit on something here, but we don't need to develop it right away. All we need is a big popular hoax or rumor that we are going alternative energy and would be able to cut out opec. You better believe that those terrorist groups will be handed to us by opec just so they keep what sales we'll have left over Russian oil.
