We need standardized rechargeable batteries!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, just a rant. But I'm sitting here thinking about all the things I need to pack to go home for turkey weekend and I realize how many freaking battery chargers I have to bring home with me.

Cell phone wall charger
Cell phone car charger
Digicam charger
Camcorder charger
Bluetooth headset charger
MP3 player charger
Paintballgun charger

I'm sure there's more, but it's such a pain to carry so many chargers - they basically need their own freakin suitcase. What we need is a standard for odd sized batteries. We need a charger that can handle ALL odd sizes (there should be several size standards to accomodate different devices) as well as detect the amount of voltage necessary to properly charge the battery. If I'm not mistaken, all my batteries are Ni-MH.

its called profit and business. If you use something else then you will have to pay royalty's to that company/person etc. If you invent it yourself then you pay no royalty's and people pay you if they use it

I do agree on a dam standard digital cam transfer cable AT THE CAMERA end though. They may be usb at the other end but at the other end they are different. My Minolta and Fuji are different and its DAM annoying!

Also the usb is at the back of the pc and probably the worst position to put it! NEED a usb hub! Or get a new case with usb on the front

If they are all NIMH, I have a charger that could probably charge any of them. NICD and NIMH are very easy to charge and don't really require "special" chargers. Li-Ion batteries do require VERY specific charging conditions. If you improperly charge a Li-Ion battery it can explode/catch fire. NICD/NIMH can be charged many different ways without major problems. Li-Ion is where we really need a standard.

Get a 6-in-1 card reader, then you don't need the camera at all

I just checked and both the camcorder and digi cam use lithium ion......blargo.
