We need new GTX 460 drivers badly.

We've only had 1 set. What's nVidia doing? I just bought a second eVGA GTX 460 1GB for SLI but when I run in SLI mode the screen shakes back and forthand sometimes the graphics are corrupted. I'm presently using a OCZ 700w GameXtreme PSU. Do I need a new PS, maybe?

No your PSU is fine. Try changing the SLI method perhaps?

Why are you blaming the drivers, when plenty of other people are running SLi'd GTX 460's just fine?

Have you tried the 2nd card separately, to determine if it has an issue?

I think you're close to pushing it with that PSU.

Well, I fixed the problem. All I did was swich the cards around and now SLI works perfectly. Go figure, eh?

Question: How the hell do you spell 'Swich'?

i get a lot of stutter on metro 2033 but i thought that was because it's a demanding game.

and fps on BC2 are pretty disappointing too but i am expecting they will release better drivers. the GPU is not being worked to its fullest in BC2.

There are def issues with GTX 460 SLI right now, for example BFBC2 will only run in DX9 mode or I crash.

Still a beasty setup, but we need new drivers asap!

This is funny stuff. I just think the power demands for a 480 or 460 is too high. nVidia will bring that down to 200watts or less on their next generation 5xx series hopefully... Thanks gg and gl,

Wow, that PSU is great, I have the same PSU with my HD 4870 1GB CF setup and overclocked Q9650@3.82GHz and it would shutdown during heavy loads due to overheating, (Fortunately I fixed such issue with better ventilation), but I though that I was pushing it, now that I know that it can withstand the GTX 460 power consumption, it even more impressive to me. :awe:

Single 4870 512MB at full 3D Load draws 151 W. Probably a bit more with 1GB models. GTX460 1GB draws a max of 160W. So, you're pulling about the same, if not more than GTX460SLI with your 48701GB in Xfire.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-radeon-power,2122-6.html

No surprise that this PSU can run 2xGTX460 if it can run 2x48701GB.

The GTX 460 uses the same power draw as a ATi 4870 and less than a GTX 285/275/260 lol

I don't have a particularly high opinion of OCZ PSU's. Not saying they are carp, just kind of "meh". And I did say, "close to pushing it" wit that PSU, as in I wouldn't add anymore stress to it. ;)

Well, OCZ GameXstream is basically a Fortron Source Power (FSP) FSP700-80GLC which is a very well reputable PSU manufacturer, they also make PSU for other famous brands. But I think we deviated too far off topic, but back on topic.

Its interesting the fact that the GTX 460 1GB consumes slightly less power than the GTX 260 and yet is faster, but its interesting the fact that the GTX 460 is never twice faster than the GTX 260+ considering it has more than 50% of everything except bandwidth and texture performance. May be with newer drivers, it can take advantage of the hybrid super scalar approach of the GF104, I'm a still bit skeptic after they failure with the NV30 and its superscalar architecture. It would seems that while nVidia drivers might be slighly better, AMD's compiler within the driver are much better.

of course it would never be twice as fast by having 50% more of everything. unless it was a magical clock for clock phenom it would require 100% more to be twice as fast. really in the end the 400 series are pretty poky considering their specs. 55% more sp and higher clocks on the gtx460 but its only about 15-20% faster than a gtx260. and as I mentioned before in some games its not any faster. that's pretty shitty if you think that most of us paid well below $200 for that kind of performance nearly 2 years ago.

Yeah, I think were reaching the point of diminish returns, let see what nVidia and AMD will bring this next generation.

Here is some newer drivers.

Dell releases NVIDIA GeForce Forceware 259.32 driver
http://www.downloadatoz.com/driver/...eware-259-32-drivers-for-windows-7-vista.html

But even newer, these are supposed whql candidate
http://www.downloadatoz.com/driver/...ro-ion-259-47-whql-driver-to-be-released.html

Those drivers have been circulating for awhile and do not fix the low gpu usage and stuttering problems with GTX 460 cards and SLI issues with all the 4 series cards.

The drivers people are waiting on that the fix was promised in are the 260 betas. They still did not release them even though they had been delayed again and promised for this past week's end.

So hopefully next week now?
