Think about it...all those alternative worlds, you could fit in tons and tons of content without interfering with the main ka-tet's storyline.

Was just thinking about this since they are making a Dark Tower movie/TV series; it would be a good accompanying project.

I'm not sure if it would be a MMO shooter, or a MMO RPG with hit points closer to WoW or what...

They should never touch this story. No shitty movies. No shitty tv show. No shitty comic books. No, no, no, no, no!

Well, I can tell you that I already know that, after what Peter Jackson did to LOTR, I'm sure they aren't going to stick to the books faithfully like they should...

Why, so we can play to the end only to be sent back to the beginning? No thanks.

And they are making movies and tv shows out of it.

No to mmo.

I can't give enough credit to the lotr movies coming from someone who grew up with the books and read them many times over as an adult.

If done just right a movie based on Dark Tower could be great but I am doubtful.

I disagree with the series ending. Love it actually. The problem was the last 2 books as a whole. I enjoyed them but.....well this is another topic.

Really the story was ruined as soon as King introduced himself as a character. At that point I was kind of appalled with him pleasuring himself all over what was shaping up to be a great story.

You must not have read any of his other books.... this is a common theme for him.

We're they to make a Dark Tower MMO, I would certainly try it.

Introducing himself was funny. But when dudes show up with light sabers and various other things stolen from other fantasy books and movies was kind of corn. However , Roland and the other characters were fantastic and carried me through to the "end".

I think any good series has low points when it gets past 3 books. King put out 4 excellent ones then the rest got off track imo.

I could. Write plenty on the mmo topic but its no mmo is good anymore to me. Nobody seems able to break the mold.

More like no one's willing to break it. Rather than truly innovate, everyone's content with just copy-catting EQ/WoW's established model and tacking on little extras or slightly modifying the way something works in the hopes that will magically lure everyone to their creation. That actually sums up the major players in the video game industry as a whole. Unfortunately, the majority of gamers lap it up and give them no reason to change.

Anyway, I don't think a Dark Tower MMO would work all that well. The world is supposed to be dying, not populated with loads of gunslingers going on quests.

True. But also I wish someone would wake up and realize an mmo doesn't need to be good vs evil , orcs humans elves , and fighter mage priest.

But my real vision of an mmo is putting the power back in the players hands to shape the world. Just need to give them the proper tools.

Dibs on playing as the Low Man faction. Gonna get me a mean Buick and eat everyone!

*also think that they should leave the books/story alone*

I really enjoyed it (the Darktower series). At least King had the courtesy to finish it before he died. /Guiltily glares at Robert Jordan, aka James Oliver Rigney, Jr./ Having read nearly everything else King has published, the tie-ins were cool and I was very happy that I took the time to read Salems Lot before continuing through the series.

For that reason I just started reading Terry Goodkind, he needed to finish it before I invested my time.

Such an awesome game...way ahead of its time! In the summer my brother and our friends would play it every day. Still have some of those sounds stuck in my head. Like the Plague and Bizarre.

It's funny you mention this because I was thinking exactly the same thing about a month ago and stumbled upon the flash game called Discordia.

Needless to say it was just a tease for my tastes. :p
