I hate to see someone who writes something and then see the word 'Banned' under their name. When you go to their post history it can be difficult to find out why they were banned because the moderator can ban them hours or days after they posted the bannable post. When you go to PFI and ask the thread is automatically locked. There has to be a more efficient way to understand why someone is no longer around.

PS: If this thread is in the wrong forum please move it instead of locking it. Thanks.

Locked since the threads's stopped being about the topic.

I don't think we're supposed to know why anyone was banned, nor is there a list of who has been banned. If you ask in mod discussions you may or may not get an answer.
I know that some are banned without a specific reason, this is apparently done by a vote of the staff. The three I know of were simply told they weren't welcome here anymore, and banned for life. Generally, you would have to find the banned member outside of the AT forums to find out what happened. That's a lot easier to do than you might think.

I don't see this happening. Why someone gets vacationed/banned is their business. If you want to know, you can contact them.

Yes and no. People are banned according to the mods interpretation of the forum guidelines. Knowing what the mods deem bannable should be accessible information.

Forum guidelines were written by Mods, reviewing by Mods, agreed on by Mods and upheld by Mods.

No one that follows the guidelines gets banned.

hmm i don't see where a actual legit list would hurt. instead of keeping everything hidden.

That doesn't address the point you were answering. I know three people that don't know why they were banned. They were told it was due to a Mod vote. Where exactly is that mentioned in the forum guidelines?

The opp's question is valid. If someone is canned it would be nice to know what line was crossed. Asking the banned member isn't going to work if they don't know why they were banned, or you can't find them. Asking in mod discussions may or may not get you an answer, but that answer won't help anyone else. Fundamentally, what the opp is asking for is transparency in the forum moderation.

People want to know so they don't get banned for doing the same thing, seems pretty logical.

I have the same question. I logged on last week and saw a friend was banned a while ago and I have no idea why. Tried to message but it won't let me send a message to banned members.

How do I contact them?

Who was it? It's possible that your friend is at the place that can't be named. There is an underground cabal of miscreants and ne'er-do-wells that could get a message to him, if you know who to ask.

1) Emails are not blocked

2) Vacationed members are alerted that they are no longer able to post. they are also alerted every time they cross the line which is building up to a vacation.

3) Permanently banned members are pulling peoples legs if they do not know why they were banned. They are given multiple chances to change their ways and continue to get vacations. Eventually those vacations pile up. They just refuse to admit that they are unable to live within the forum guidelines - they think that rules should not apply to them.

4) The only people that are banned immediately without any warning are the spammers. these are also breaking the forum rules; so that is still consistent.

Look up posts for any of your "innocent" members that claim to have no knowledge of why they were banned. Search by name and use the post option instead of thread. You will soon see a pattern develop that shreds their proclamation of innocence.

Actually it does address the point.

The mods vote to expel a person after they have continually shown that they refuse to abide by the forum guidelines.

They just in their own mind refuse to accept such and the fact that they can not do what they please here.

As to why - follow the suggestion I posted above for your answers.
Tools exist if people actually try to utilize them. however, most are to lazy to do so and prefer to echo complaints of the trouble makers

If they would read the posts of the perps; it might provide some clues. but that takes some effort.

Sorry, but in some cases you're just flat out wrong. That's as far as I'm going with this. A couple of years ago this would've been a great discussion to have, it might've even been productive. Now, not so much. I don't feel like logging in one day to see that I've been banned, password reset, and my PM's have been read.

What a shame.

Mosh, Moose, Whoseyourdaddy. I know those three, I talk to them every day, I've met one in person. All good people, all banned without reason being given.
I didn't come into this thread to get into a pissing match with you, but you're flat out wrong, the staff does as they damn well please. Trying to hide it behind some contrived bullshit twisted guidelines is craven.

I can't contact them. There is no email on profile.

I'm wondering why they were even banned, I searched their post and nothing came up.
