We might have to be careful about the way we talk to each other, in the future

Maybe you deserve it for being such a fucktard. Oh shit, what have I done?!

If I recall the specifics Megan Meier was effectively befriended online to gain her confidence then stalked, harassed and threatened by someone from her neighborhood. That person then lied about it to police.

I don't know anything about the federal legislation. If it works to reduce barriers within local ordinances and state laws because of the nature of the internets I guess it could help as long as it's not overreaching. Instead of a 'Federal Case' the Feds need to be able to support local cops in this stuff when it gets really ugly.

The girl who killed herself is going to ruin the Internet for everyone. :-/

Members of Congress who introduce such bills should have their citizenship stripped.

Congresswoman Sanchez apparently does not understand that in the United States, free speech is more important than a few kids killing themselves.

We, as a nation, on a DAILY BASIS, accept the death of hundreds resulting from the *tough decisions* that we make.

We could make cars more safe, toys more safe, food more safe, (etc ad naseum). But we do not, because we have made tough choices that such extra precautions would infringe on other rights and economic freedoms.

The same is true here Ms. Sanchez. You are just too incredibly, shamefully stupid to understand that principle.

Look up BPL in the law Ms. Sanchez.

Internet bullying bill

Ok, this is ridiculous. I think it will not pass. Can you imagine me going to prison just because I called one of you a fucktard?

They should add in that this even applies if one implies the possibility of calling you a fucktard at some point in the future!

Maybe they can just tax internet bullying to fund UHC? :p It would be kind of like the swear jar at work only instead of going towards a luncheon it would go towards emergency room visits.

Exactly, that was a built in feature of the internet, thanks to Al Gore! ;)
