but it sure seems like something set up before hand

hey im buying a second home here....

oh yeah my richie rich uncle lives there...

no kidding is he super rich guy golf owner...

why yes yes thats him as you know we are filthy rich...

kind of weird coming on the heels of ryans other thread telling us how rich his parents are.....

my point ... and if you're at the point in life where you can afford something like this, do you really care what a bunch of geeks on ATOT think? and would you be asking their advice on furniture budget? i'm thinking not ...

People worth millions of dollars ask for my input as a point of reference.. doesn't mean they'll listen to me.

If this guy knows my uncle he's probably got a fair amount of cash money.

Which prompts my next question, how do you know they're my uncles? They don't share my last name!

You have mentioned in previous threads that your uncle was an owner of the Cordova Bay course, and I knew who owned that particular course. I'm good at math, so I could add 2 + 2. 😀

Most people would call shens on that!

Though I'm sure your daughter knows her ways around Vancouver, if she needs any help or wants me to show her around places where she'd probably like to hang out and the such.. I'd be more than happy to help out.

I won't do anything bad my uncle and aunt will kick my ass.

um, actually, i wasn't talking about you specifically, since i don't know you i would have no idea if anybody asks for your input, but the OP was asking the forum in general, not just you. but that's ok - you seem to have a big head, so i'm not surprised you would think he was singling you out!

Thanks for the offer, but it is still a couple of years until she may be heading for Vancouver. She also has lots of cousins and others to call upon, but it is good to know that there are ATOT friends in every city.

I was just offering an opinion or a point of view, and obviously the word I will be used in an opinion piece.

THANKS!

Cheers.

UBC is a great school, makes me regret not going there.

It's really sad that this forum is filled with such a large amount of self hating losers that they can't even imagine someone else having more than them.
Remember kids, when someone has more than you (success, money, fame, fun) it HAS to be a lie.

ok, now that statement is just silly. obviously there are plenty of people who are rich; you see them on tv; you drive by their big houses and their expensive import cars. i seriously doubt anybody here thinks that no one could have more than them, or has a problem with that. it's the american way!

however, i know if i had the financial resources to afford such an expensive 2nd home, i probably wouldn't be wasting my time serfing atot - i'd be too busy with other persuits.

Imho I believe that everyone wants to develop something that ultimately can work independantly so they can go off and do their own pursuits.

I mean.. isn't that kind of what retirement is like?

You've got this all wrong. I've made my money by not being afraid to ask anyone for their opinion on any topic. From the information I have gathered, I make my own decision. By being better informed that someone I am competing with for a given market, I can more effectively market my product/service, and be more successful.

If you weren't so scared to look like a fool by asking questions about something you don't know about, you might actually learn something.

The reality is, I do not know what it will cost to furnish a new condo, as I have never done it, so I thought some advice from a group of potentially younger people who have maybe just moved into their first unfurnished apartment or condo might be able to provide some information.

If it's a condo it's obviously gonna cost more than what it cost me, I moved in to a 1 bdrm apartment.

After furnishing it with dishes, desks, couch, comfy chair, computer chair, armoire, bed, and misc. stuff I'd say it came close to around 3 grand.

Obviously your stuff is going to be more expensive and your furnishings will probably be more expensive.

That doesn't seem like something D1gger would do.

You have captured RyanSengara's M.O. perfectly though. It's really funny when he and Qosis get into a penis waving contest over whose parents are richer.

Here is one place that provides complete rooms for condos. You can see prices and get an idea about various decors. I'm sure there are other sites like this. We referred to one when we were furnishing a new condo at Panama City Beach but we did it ourselves. For us it was 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, dining, living, kitchen furnished with everything from plasma tv to bed linens to brooms to artwork to curtains to silverware - well, you get the picture - cost about $11,000.

We have been looking for a while, and finally found a perfect weekend getaway place in the big city. I can't wait till we get possession in May and begin furnishing it and spending sinful weekends away from the kids. It is an 870 ft2 condo in a new building that has tremendous views and is an area with great restaurants and quick access to pretty much anything we could want.

Picture of the view:

Now for a question:

What $ number should I budget to completely furnish the place? It does come with complete appliances, but no furnishings at all.

And for those not familiar with the term pied à terre.

What city is that?

Cheers,
Aquaman

I thought it looked familiar 🙂

[dang..... can't keep those islanders off the mainland 😉]

Cheers,
Aquaman

Thanks very much, that is exactly the info I was looking for. I had a budget of $15k (Cdn) in mind when we made the offer, but was wondering if that was in the right ball park.
