Far be it from my humble self to say I could do a better job, all the time, b/c I can't. I have a real job and this place just happens to be one of my favorite hobbies. 😉

I seem to have become the "Wrong Forum!" Cop. For the past three months or so, Off Topic has become a repository for lazy people. Well-established members as well as brainless n00bs have taken to posting threads like "What HS for a P4?" and "My Kazaa DL is corrupted! Why?" in Off Topic. They do so b/c they know they'll get 40-50 replies w/o fear of the thread being locked.

What happened to this place? I'm not saying I've never posted in the wrong forum; most of us that have been here awhile have. But it hasn't happened in a long time.

Come ON, MODS!!! You either don't care or you're replying in the thread itself under your normal NIC.

I, for one, have found literally dozens of answers to problems simply by searching in the applicable forum. Isn't that the way it is supposed to worK?

PM the mods with links. That's what I usually do, as well as replying with "wrong forum" and a suggestion or two.

I stopped going into OT for a while. I went there tonight to find pictures of the clock spider, but that was the first time I've been in OT for a while. Feels good staying out of the cess pool for a while. 😉

I have never once posted in P&N. Never once since it was created right after 911, when OT got swamped with all the "Kill Al Queda" threads. I know what I believe in, but I'm not a big Politico. So I stay out of there.

I didn't post this b/c I'm some great guy...I just try to follow the rules so this place stays up and running. I'm an opinionated SOB and that's what OT is for! 😀 Not posting about my Win98 Networking Problem. 😉
 
I agree that things should be posted in the right forums. But policing OT would just take forever and be nothing but a test in patience for anyone. Ghandi would be cursing and throwing things dealing with most of the idiots there.

Seriously though, shoot a PM to the mods and they'll either take care of it or begin to ignore you. Trying to remind most OTers that there are forums other than OT is basically useless.

I would LOVE to simply have the power to move threads. That would be FREAKING GREAT. I, too, am a "wrong forum" nazi. Please, someone just give me the freakin power to move threads from OT to some other topic. PUHLLLEEEAAAAASSSSEEEEEE!?
