Now a days almost all current aftermarket radios i've seen offers a direct ipod connection. The type were you dont ever have to touch your ipod/itouch/iphone ever. The headunit can change the songs and everything. I really like that feature. Plus it charges it as the same time.

But it seems like ipods are the only ones out there. I would like to say Zune is the 2nd most popular mp3/mp4 type of device out there. Are there any " zune ready" radios out there that offer similiar features to the direct ipod connection.

I have a ipod connection in my alpine right now pair with my 30gb. I'm interested in getting the new 32gb zune HD thing. Mainly for HD radio and a nice screen, I'm looking to get another radio for the car as well, this time with video features. If i get the zune i might not be able to play videos thru my zune to my HU. This would again turn me back into the apple monopoly. Are there any ways around this...

Given my current situation. It looks like the new little ipod is my only option if i want to stream videos from my ipod to the car's radio and have a FM tuner( but not HD tuner)

You can always get an HD tuner added on to whatever headunit you choose. Most newer headunits come ready for a tuner to be added.

any Ford with Sync does, but that doesn't help you

I know the VW MDI does not, but that doesn't help you either.

main purpose of HD tuner was use on the mp3 player while at work. The headunit add-on normally run $150 or $50 used. That is fair more then what i feel its worth.

As sadly this will be for a G35.

Some have mention i can use a ZUNE RCA adapter to plug it into a source on my radio. Good idea but doesn't give me full control of my zune thru the HU. I've been going over it in my head and it seems as i have to stay in this apple world. I somewhat have a hate for apple now. They try to monoplize everything. I had an iphone and love the features hated apple, had to buy diffrent car charger for my 3gs because i had the old 2g. I hate itunes, lack of radio. everyone has one. The zuneHD works for me in a LOT of ways.

I was never able to find one, so I just tapped directly into the cd input line so I didn't have to do the FM transmitter crap. Works fine for me and I don't really care if I can control it via the headunit or not.

Ah, it wouldn't make sense then for the HD tuner being on the car then.

I'm getting an HD tuner for my G35 put on.. though its being mated with a Kenwood DNX7140 as well.

I plan to do the same with the iPod Classic I haven't touched since getting an iPhone.

I love my Zune primarily because of the Zune pass but as each day passes, and Apple gets more immersed in the world around me, I find it difficult to resist the urge to go back. Then I remember how much I hate iTunes. I could overlook this issue if there were an 'Apple pass' equivalent to the Zune pass but doubt that will ever happen in a world as pretentious as the Apple world.

This is coming from someone with the ipod connection wires sitting in the trunk of my Infiniti G37 coupe. I did hook them up to my old ipod once just to see what would happen and it just pissed me off because I realized I would not be able to have that functionality with the Zune.

No joke, almost every time I take my ZuneHD to the gym someone asks what it is and how cool it looks. Its a killer device and the interface rocks, I just with it was more integrated.

You can point a gun at my head but no way in hell am I using iTunes for anything. Its the only piece of software that manages to crash win7 and take up like 80+% of my OCed E8400 at the same time and still be laggy. Either that or it just deletes everything off my shuffle

doesn't your deck play mp3? I would just burn mp3 CDs.

the mp3 function is pretty poor. all directories are played alphabetically, as are all files within those directories. i burned 1 cd with everything named "01 ..., 02 ..." before realizing that this is for the birds.

i have the 30gb classic with a OEM interface right now.

I use the mytouch as a pandora radio and 8gb mp3 but it doesn't last me a whole day or 3 hours of video if that. So thats why i wanted a zuneHD. If i get a zune then my ipod will even be more pointless and then having to put the same songs on that.. Everything would be completely easy for me if they had a zune-ready HU.

I have steering wheel controls so a HU that can control the zune is an ideal setup. I'm doing it with the ipod right now.

I'm just going to get a zuneHD and get a pioneer avic of some sort. see how the USB input is.
