<< bite my implant >>

Is that a standard Borg enhancement? Does it have any added benefits? I'd imagine with the assimilation of thousands of civilizations that they'd have some pretty interesting techniques. 😀 😉

I hate it when people troll but its even worse when strangers (DPC) enter our forum and troll. There is nothing wrong with feeling confident
about your team and posting in your own forum. Why must they post
here when they know comments will only stir things up. Why, because they
like seeing our reaction. I rarely visit their forum except when someone
links to a particular thread. Why are they so interested in us? I think
they still think we can hold them off and they are trying to see what
we are up to. I for one will keep trying to bring in more members and
I *know* we can hold them off. Their over confidence may be their
weakness. Maybe folks from OGR will lend us a hand since we helped
them gain first place and still do so to maintain it. We have tons of
power between all the distributed projects going on. Keep on
assimulating and lets pull together and disregard their negative posts
in our forum. I don't think they would appreciate us gloating that we are
number one in theirs.

What is the point of my post. They hell if I know. I am just hate
$hitstirrers from the outside. I do not wish anyone harm on their team
but I certainly don't wish them well either. This is a competition. The
team that has the most people who want to win, will eventually win.
There is no such thing as a gracious winner or at least there shouldn't
be! That means you really didn't care if you won. Not everone may have the drive as Russ and DanC for winning but I support their vigor for
winning. I for one am not a gracious loser either and will not appologize for it. So there is it, my rant and rave for the day. Thank
God it is almost the weekend.

BTW Happy New Year TA members! We are #1 for the year 2000.

<< Can anyone beat this with two words? >>

Yeah, but it'll probably come out like **** off!
/me bets everyone thought I used the F word. :Q

How about "Later, Dude!" or "Be Gone!" 🙂

Or, my personal favorite: "Mommy's Calling!" 😀

I think kilowatt meant what the Garrote Gorge arms dealer in Might & Magic 8 keeps repeating if you're just browsing his store but not buying anything:

"Shove off" 🙂

Damn, this got buried in the discussion:

<< I am currently trying to add my work lan to the herd, between 100 - 150 pc's mostly pIII 450/500's and a couple of 733's and 866's if all goes well. >>

baccamap,

If you need any help at all, yell at us! Arguments to use with the bosses (hopefully, that's you😀), or setup, configuration, etc., etc., WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!

Russ, NCNE

Thanks for the offer, I may need some help. Luckily I am the LAN Admin, now I need some good arguements to convince my boss.

Tell him you'll kill him and his entire family if he gets in your way. That's a nice warm fuzzy start.

OK - so I'm kidding... or am I?

baccamap,

The absolute best argument is to let him know that the contest is sponsored by the group that developed the encryption. This goes a long way toward getting rid of the fear of the word "cracking".

Then, explain that some prize money goes to charity.

Also, that it's an excellent way to test system stability, that it is a VERY well behaved little proggie that steps aside for any other program. It runs quietly and nobody will even know it's there.

Hell, offer to put a pic of him on your stats page!😀

Show him all the places to check stats. Get him hooked!

Tell him you'll forgo raises for the next five years (JUST KIDDING!)

Show him this, and tell him how much fun it would be to kick my ass in the stats!:Q

Russ, NCNE

Russ,
You forgot to mention the DIAGNOSTIC abilities of running RC5. With it, you can tune a machine like a Ferrari...

A LAN guy's job is to tweak those machines. Rock on.... 🙂

baccamap welcome. 🙂

Boy Kilowatt got it so right! 😎
It's kind of hard to dismiss deliberate hellraising as "high spirits" when you see an effort like that. I refuse to put a . in a quality thread, on topic, that is about rousing team effort, but it's tempting.

We can definitely make a difference, as individuals, to team output.
You might take a stroll through the stats to see what I mean.
In the middle of this year, I was putting out about 800-900 blocks per day and thought that was pretty good.

Engineer, myself Marty and MadMerc got together and formed the Federation. On a big week our output rose to about 50k plus. dvch and MWalkden lifted us from our slumber and now with the help of our team mates knock that out on an average day. We are not resting - we want to do 100k a day - and we will succeed. It's hard to track my individual output as most of it is combined with the Fed's stats but I know I have +5000k a day now and fairly regularly flush an extra 15-20k on a Friday or Monday.

Big work herd? Naah, about 3Mkeys from work!

A cluster built from bits and bargains at home gives me an increasing output - to the point it is now significant.

Most of the output comes from friends and relatives - none of them has ever refused to run it for me. All I had to do was ask.

The output from asking friends and relatives alone increased my original output by a factor of at least 4. If the majority of the TeAm were to emulate this none too difficult feat then output would be >4M blocks per day. That would raise serious dust in our wake!

😀

Dantoo nails it right on the head (as usual)

It "ain't about big hulking herds of production servers" - it's about people - and making friends. The better you are at it, the bigger your herd.

Denis... (Recrutus of Borg) - Most Valuable Cracker...

He has the secret. 🙂

[edit] maybe I'll learn to spell prior to pressing the button.

theres also "piss off"

fleet will magically convert to herd ASAP... too bad this notebook here doesn't have a floppy or i'd sneakernet some klinux action.
