We had to put my grandmother into a nursing home today

She has been living with us for over 10 years and has become too much for us to deal with. She's still very sweet but we can't give her the care she needs.

I now worry about her. Its strange but I am the one who misses her more than any other family member. But I am just a worry-wart anyway though.

Thought I would just get it off my chest.

:(

At least you can still go visit her as often as you like... you shouldn't worry about her, if she's anything like my grandmother she'll be fine. :)

I hope so. Its a fair drive to the home and I work odd hours so I will try to make time for her.

Thanks guys.:)

I'm sorry to hear that, but you'll see each other for visits, and perhaps she'll make some new friends while she's there. :)

We had to do the same thing for my Great Grandmother shortly after she turned 101. It was just to hard for us to care for her at that point. Do not feel bad about putting her in a home, it is best for everyone involved. However, if you dont visit her at least 2 or 3 times a week(if possible), then you should feel bad. They do get lonely, and I am sure they are frightened (I would be), so go see her a lot!

She's 94 years old and has demetia. She's a quiet woman and very harmless so I hope everything turns out ok.
