We had our cat spayed.

She was pregnant. I didn't even know that they would do this, but I guess it's not a problem, although I did have to call 2 different vets before I found one that would.

Discuss?

PS. Is that better Mr(s). Mod? 😛

You should....

We were lazy & didn't do it since she was indoors, but she ended up getting out and getting pregnant again.

I find it interesting that they will perform even late term abortions on animals without any qualms(Obviously, vet dependant).

She was probably 3/4 of the way through her term.

/equips flame retardant suite😛

The world honestly doesen't need any more kittens, so I see the whole thing as being good.

Edit: Oh, and before someone says "You should have had her fixed sooner!", I tried.

There was no way that I was going to spend multiple hundreds of dollars on getting her fixed(Banfield wanted 250$ - to start! pregnant, pain med = more... :Q)... I'd rather just have the kittens. So I had to use the Oregon Humane Society coupon, and it's only valid at like 5 places. Two of them wouldn't do it. Of the remaining, only one had a timeslot available before she would have had her kittens anyway.

Total cost: 58$, including 20$ for extra post-op pain medicine.

i think it depends. if you are going to be able to take care of the litter, or find homes for all of them, its fine. if there is any doubt as to whether you'll be able to find good homes, you should get the cat/dog fixed.
