These sneakers were limited edition. Only 4,000 made and they were being sold for $350 a pop! I also heard that people were reselling them on Ebay for $1,000

Why the hell would you want to spend $350 on a pair of shoes? Imagine wearing those babies out and someone accidently steps on them!

I've sold most of my Jordan's shoe collection on Ebay. Purchase some retro 11's, wait a month until the color is sold out, and they will sell for 4 times the amount you paid. I still have a pair of 1's and a pair of 8's that are brand new. I am going to hold onto them because they are my fav.

Self consciousness at it's best.

The even sadder part is that most people who buy tacky things like that are working class or poor.

Yea, I was saying that yesterday. Most of the people buying this crap have their children on school lunches. They can't afford lunch for their children but they can buy lottery tickets, consoles and console games, beer and $350 Michael Jordan shoes!

Why aren't they entitled to buy something they like? Jordan's aren't my personal style, but I don't think they are tacky, they are tennis shoes, they aren't tacky unless you are wearing them with a suit or something.

/edit and why are the self conscious? If I'm wearing a pair of $400 mephisto's am I self conscious? Maybe I like they way the feel/look...

They're targetting a certaing segment of society that values such things. (ironically, people who can't really afford to spend $350 on shoes, but will)

bah, you can blame the poor people or whatever, but the fact is that we live in a society where the saving is not part of the culture...there are a ridiculous amount of people in debt in this country...so you can point fingers at the poor, but you or your parents are most likely in debt too.

There is a big difference between people who are "in debt" (credit cards, mortgage, etc) and people who mooch off of government services and then spend all their money on worthless crap.

Atleast the people in the suburbs who are in debt are still putting more into the system than taking out, unlike people who typically value sneakers.

it's 2 pairs of shoes.

one was the 6, which no one cares about. everyone was going nuts to buy the 11's, the most famous pair of jordans ever made.

my bf was going nuts on friday night trying to buy them off of eastbay. he wanted the 11's so bad and was too young when they first came out and his dad wouldn't plunk down the money for them. not to mention they are special editions, and jordans still sell amazingly well.

wtf is wrong with school lunches? you think everyone packs their children a lunch every day? the school lunch is probably better than all the chips and cookies and junk they would pack anyway.

some of you people on here have some really weird ideas about how stuff works and have a odd sense of reality

Actually the first person to buy the shoes was a tall Chinese kid. He got there 2 hours before the sale.
