a friend of my wife's are living in a apartment. well they had this dog (lab and somethingelse) with them in the apartment. well the landlord told them to either lose the dog or move out.

so they asked us if we wanted the dog. We have been kinda looking for a new dog since the last one we had died (about 3 months ago).

The dogs name is Star and was born last summer on the 4th of july heh.

she is very skittish. you even raise your hand to her and she runs away. she is afraid of my daughter 🙁

hopefully over time she will be ok.

Looks like a nice dog.

At least she's potty-trained... I'm having to clean up after my little puppy right now. 😛

WHOA, she looks a LOT like my new dog!

But he doesn't have quite as much white in him. The place where I got him called him Lab/Dalmatian but I'm leaning toward Lab/Pit Bull.

EDIT: And congrats! 🙂

i am very happy with the dog so far. it was getting lonely with no dog (wife works and kid out playing).

this dog is very loveing. but i suspect it was either abused or maybe an outside dog. she does not like being in the house. also if you raise a hand she will cower and pee on the floor.

but once you start petting her she won't leave you heh.

I'm considering adopting this dog....I'll change the name though..."Snoop" *barf!*.

I went and saw him today. Extremely lovable guy and, according to the shelter/previous owner's info, he's good with cats (I have three). I guess he bit his last couple owners because of his food or something. The last one was bit hard enough that he broke her finger. So I'm hung up on that part, but I have to wonder if the previous owners just didn't know how to handle/train him. Adorable little guy when I took him on a walk (damn strong puller for 10 months too). Loves sitting on the lap too. GF and I will go see him tomorrow again and do some more consideration.

Cute dog, waggy! Yeah, it sounds like someone may have thought that smacking her for every little thing was the best form of discipline. It'll probably take a little while, but she will get over the skittishness once she sees that things are going to be different with her new family. We've taken in strays like that before and though some take longer than others, they all get comfortable and trusting eventually.

Congratulations and hope y'all enjoy each other for many years to come!

Gooberlx2, that's a nice looking pup. If it's a German Shepherd mix, there's got to be quite a bit of smarts there so maybe it'll settle down fairly quickly. The dog I have now was like that for a while, (growling, trying to bite when you'd get near their food), and the only thing I can figure is that it's a part of her personality because she just started doing it out of the blue when she got to be around a year old. She's part Chow and they're fairly high strung. She's extremely territorial, especially with other dogs, but she got along okay with a cat in the house. We broke her of the behavior with people, but she still does it around other dogs.

I hope he makes a great pet and friend if you decide to adopt him.

As much as I love dogs, and I love them big time(just cleaned up some puppy barf  ) a dog that bites is something to worry about... as long as you don't have any small children or a small wife you should be ok.

I have a friend who raises very large dogs(Presario Canario) and one of them attacked his girlfriend and broke her arm(she is like 95lbs and the dog was 140)... needless to say he had to put the dog down but you gotta think about stuff like this with a large dog and especially one with a history of violence.

I would say to pass on this dog... he has proven he is violent... I'm surprised they haven't put him down yet already.

Keep looking. My mutt from the Humane Society is the sweetest thing and she is part pit bull.
