Does anyone know if PC supports the PS5 dual sense controller? Apparently the haptic feedback is really interesting when the cat purrs.

OK so its almost impossible to get killed or stuck. The game holds your hand every step of the way. Jumping is always successful unless theres a scripted story event forcing you to fall. Its mostly just exploring a strange world. And like similar exploration games its easy to get lost because everything looks the same.
HOWEVER you have a secret weapon: The Meow.
Every meow causes electricity to spark and crackle, showing you the path forward. Which is weird but it works.

Knocking shit over and licking water and scratching carpet are all completely optional, but fun.

No manual saves, only checkpoints.
Eventually you get the ability to check your last tip and directions. There are few inventory items and memories. They are easy to access. You find a friend who also wants to get out of the underground area you've fallen in to.

I am enjoying it. Its your typical narrative driven adventure game. Its exploring with some simple puzzle solving. Its totally fine for kids to play, both for content and difficulty reasons. If you "die", the screen just turns red, there are no kitty deaths. And my own cats sometimes react to in game meows.

The graphics are average, but the art style is great, and the lighting really makes the game. Its a mixture of old style reflections and ray tracing (standard compute RT, not RT that requires GPU support). Its has a nice sound track. And B12 is the cutest of bots.

I am using an XBox Series X controller, and it works great. The game does say that using a gamepad is highly recommended. So I would think if the PS controller would also be supported.

Checked Twitch. The porn star Adriana Something or other loves this game. Great.
I fail to see how this is at all important?

I'll probably get it after I get back from vacation on the PS5 for the dual sense rumble features.

I also feel like this game could have replaced the cat with anything else because it seems pretty linear driven, including the platforming. I knew this beforehand, but the developers said making the jumps free style was awkward which is why they opted for the QTE style platforming where you just go to an edge and press a button and the platforming jump is done for you.

It would be really cool to have full free movement as cats are pretty agile and that's one thing I was hoping to experience.

Can the player customize there cat in character creation? It would be really cool to see what different colors/breeds of cats players come up with.

Sadly, no. I was bummed about this. The dev said something like it would interfere with their artistic vision or something. Though I fail to see how. But its been one of the most asked for features.

I could foresee a LOT of kitties falling to their death if it was done in a typical platforming style. Its worth noting though You can be running full speed, and tap the jump button when you reach and edge, and it will seamlessly go from running, to jumping, and back to running. It works pretty well.

They could have put a 9 falls mechanic in where afterwards you could end up dying. It looks like it's still cool to explore the areas without complete free roam control. I'm all for supporting indie devs that produce stuff like this.

They also put out Journey, Gone home, and Edith Finch all of which I think I have from my PS + subscription and yet to play those too; which if I remember correctly got decent reviews.

Edith Finch is very good, no idea about the other 2.

With all the different types of jumps, I think it would be tough to have just a regular jump button that always works. Sometimes you jump a gap, and sometimes you just up straight vertical to an A/C unit above you. A free jump would also mean they would probably have to get rid of the inability to fall off tiny things you are walking on.

At first I wasn't sure about the way this jump action would work. But now, I am fine with it, and I think its the best solution.

This game was released at the best possible time. The market is void of AAA developer releases at the moment. Good time for Stray to make the most of it. You have thousands of influencers on YouTube using for new content since nothing else is available. Free marketing for the game.

Yeah, it's kind of unusual for an indy game to be the number one streamed game.

Another cat enjoying Stray : playstation (reddit.com)
Dogs are very into stray:) : playstation (reddit.com)
I was gonna buy the game then I found out this. : playstation (reddit.com)

Uh oh. I wonder how many game studios are having impromptu meetings at this very moment, discussing how they will tackle this new "animal simulator" genre.

I want T-Rex and Squirrel simulator. And maybe Magpie simulator too, stealing stuff.
Yeah, even though its something they could have done 20 years ago, they'll jump on the bandwagon now because of one success.
Same reason we have dozens of crappy multiplayer "battle" games.

Its not a new thing really. There are games like the Shelter series, but these are more realistic to wild animals in the respect that you have to try and survive while raising young. The first and second ones are pretty good. The third one I have not played.

But I am sure there will be more.

Looks cool, but is it really as short as I am hearing? 4-5 hrs? Definitely will wait for a significant sale if so.

Depends if you are a completionist or not. 4-5 hours if you only do the bare minimum to get through the game. 7-8 if you go and do all the little side stuff.

Waiting for the holiday sale is totally a valid thing for this game if you arent in the "must play it now" group.
