My current system is starting to show it's age:

Athlon XP 1800+
Shuttle AK31
768MB PC2100
Radeon 9600pro
2@60GB & 200GB IDE HDs
Antec PP-412 400W PS

So here's what I'm thinking about. I'm almost ready to pull the trigger:

Athlon 64 3500 (939)
Asus A8V
1 GB Mushkin 2-2-2 PC3200
Radeon X800 XT (when it's available)
74GB Raptor for OS
250GB SATA for storage
Antec True Power 550W PS

I'm not going to do RAID and I'm probably not going to overclock (not that much anyway). I've already got a tower case, 3 DVD/CD drives, Audigy, ATI TV Wonder and I'm going to keep my current 200GB and maybe one of the 60GB drives in there as well (I'm assuming the Antec 550 will power all that). With the exception of my current video card and HD, my system has lasted me about 2 1/2 years (bought in Oct 2001). I'm hoping that this one will last that a couple years too. I was thinking about a 3400+ and the MSI K8N Neo, but I figured the difference in price is only around $100 to get the 3500+ and the A8V. So instead of getting in at the end of the road for the 754, I'd be getting in at the beginning of the road of the 939s. That will at least give me some ugradeability if I wanted to throw another processor or a couple more sticks of RAM in a year or so down the road. Thoughts?

yeah good choice, since you can run dual channel on the 939 processors too.. and thats a sweet system.. wish i had the money for that
