One of the most important people in the history of computers has died and we can only have one thread to talk about it??

It would seem to make sense to me to have a thread for condolences and a thread to talk about Steve and his products and his impact on the computer world.

Hell, if people want an anti-Apple thread too that would make sense, although it might be in bad taste.

BTW the sticky has had 70 posts in 30 minutes. And is not the place to discuss Steve's accomplishments.

My thread had 8 posts in less than 5 minutes so obviously people want to talk about this topic.

This is a discussion forum. Let your members discuss stuff.

Do we need 10 Jobs threads no, but 2 or 3 would make sense.

One sticky is more then enough for this as a sticky is a great way to handle these posts otherwise people will make dozens of them.

There are already 2 or 3 locked in such a short time this way it helps to prevent more from popping up.

Whose 2 or 3? If you allow more than one, you might as well have 100 or more...

If you can't say what you want in one thread...maybe you can't say it at all.

As long as they are valid topics and people want to post in them then let them stay open.

We don't need 5 different Jobs is dead threads, but we should allow discussion of other topics in other threads.

Let the members decide which threads are worthy and aren't worthy by posting or not posting in them.

There's already at least two in Off Topic, one in P&N, two in "All things Apple," How many more do we need?

Why do you always feel the need to spam the various forums by posting and reposting the same thing time after time?

Why do you feel the need to tell people what they can and can't talk about??

Maybe you need to send your MOD application to Anand so you can decide which topics are worth talking about for everyone else.

Me? F*ck no...I'll let those who already get paid for it do their jobs. 😀

At no time have I suggested that I want to tell people what they can/can't talk about. As usual, you throw up strawmen...however, why can't you limit the discussion about Steve Jobs to one thread...or two, or 5 as I already mentioned?
Why should everyone who has any sort of "mental spark" start a new thread instead of contributing to an existing thread?

plus one in "Mobile devices and gadgets."
There will be one in each of several forums; there are a number of people that don't peruse more than 1 or 2 forums, so we're going to allow it. As for OT, that's not my beat so I can't answer the question at hand.

Right now there are three from today in OT and two that have been bumped.

If people want to talk about something they will talk about it.

I say leave the threads alone and let the members decide what is and isn't worthy of posts.

That makes perfectly good sense. The point I was making is, "Why do we need more than one thread about Steve Jobs in every separate forum?"
