GOP's Continuing Resolution Cuts Funding for National Weather Service, FEMA

http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/we...unding-for-national-weather-service-fema.aspx

""According to the House Appropriation Committee's summary of the bill, the CR funds Operations, Research and Facilities for the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association with $454.3 million less than it got in FY2010; this represents a $450.3 million cut from what the president's never-passed FY2011 budget was requesting. The National Weather Service, of course, is part of NOAA -- its funding drops by $126 million. The CR also reduces funding for FEMA management by $24.3 million off of the FY2010 budget, and reduces that appropriation by $783.3 million for FEMA state and local programs.""

Considering all the disasters in other countries, and the latest in Japan, we here in America have been pretty lucky. Something like the disaster in Japan could easily happen here, somewhere on the west coast maybe. But other than the SF earthquake in the 1980's and Katrina on the west coast, we have been pretty lucky so far. But as the winter melting season approaches, no doubt we will soon hear of flooding. And watch news coverage showing people stuck on house roof tops, stranded by flooding.

So when some national disaster takes place, people will expect the government to be on the job right away. Government agencies like FEMA. We expect the government to send masses of highly trained works in, to make everything right. And if we don't get that help, everyone decries how awful and a failure government programs like FEMA are.

It’s funny how people against their so called BIG GOVERNMENT expect some government magic fairy to swoop down and save them when times are bad.

I bring this up because of the tragedy in Japan, and the looming floods that will soon be all the news here in this country. We will again watch news video of people stranded on roof tops surrounded by flood waters, watching as their car and neighbors house floats by. And all the while, everyone will scream how their government failed them. Government programs like FEMA.

So my wish or hope is when you're stranded on your roof top waiting for rescue, remember the reason there just might not be anyone coming to your rescue.
ANd it might be a smart idea now to invest in a blow-up rubber ducky flotation device.

You can not support heavy cuts in government programs like FEMA, then also expect masses of FEMA trained workers to come to your rescue when you need them.

Expecting FEMA to rescue you is not a good preparation scheme. Prepare for your own emergencies. Food, water, survival equipment, ammunition. An inflatable raft doesn't cost that much money if you live in a flood prone area.

Don't cut this sacred cow!

Wait, what? Everything is a sacred cow! Nothing left to cut in the budget, let's call it a day and go home and watch the debt rise endlessly. It can do that right? No problem, we'll just put it on the credit card and shake the money tree out back.

The Teabagger/Republican is a indoctrinated ideologue who has succumbed to the abyss of privatized lunacy. The poster boy for this drivel-minded movement would be Gov. Bobby Jindal. He literally saw no value in tsunami warnings for the state of Hawaii. Government waste no doubt to him and his fellow Reganites. Then tsunami hit Hawaii, but before good ol' boy Bobby could get in red in the face his state was swamped in oil. What a pathetic man this was as he hymned and hawed as he had to face not only a crisis, but his own ideology. The gulf now a waste land of water...hell might as well just shoot a nuclear bomb into the crust of the earth making the Gulf of Mexico a permanent morass of stagnant oil.

Lets not forget recent days, with teabaggers breaking their ankles as they jump off the bandwagon of the free market as the barrel of oil surges. Pleading...begging Uncle Obama to tap the reserves. What happened to capitalism fagots? Don't puss out now, what about the free market, what about Reagan?!

As you can see the right-wing operates on a magical plane where short term thinking simply doesn't exist. A land of FEMA camps, keyan ghosts, and rampant meth-mouth. Bomb Liyba tho! Or was it India? USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA...

Exactly. FEMA can't stop earthquakes, or flood, and counting on them to save you from them is just fucking retarded. When hours count FEMA is only days away. Hate to break it to the libtards, but cuts are going to happen, we ran out of other peoples money a long time ago.

~snipped because like everything that comes out of generators spooge trap is just too stupid to repeat.

Can yoru infantile grey matter function above accusing anyone right of Obama of being a racist teabagger even when the discussion has nothing whatsoever to do with either?
