Our workplace is encouraging all of the employees to bring in some authentic ethnic style dish and share it as a pot-luck style lunch.
Here's what I came up with: Southern White Bread Pudding with Plain Vanilla Icing
Ingredients
8 slices white wonder enriched bread - trim off all the crust
1 cup skim milk
2 eggs separated, whites only
3 tbsp white refined beet sugar
1 tbsp melted lard
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Prepare a 2-quart casserole dish and set aside
Mix the milk, egg whites, sugar, and lard in large bowl, beat severly
Pour the mixture into the casserole dish
Bake 20 minutes
Cool the pudding on wire rack
Plain Vanilla Icing
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup lard, softened - not melted
2 tablespoons skim milk
1/4 teaspoon imitation vanilla
Mix the powdered sugar with the lard and milk until kinda-sorta smooth.
Add the 1/4 teaspoon of imitation vanilla
drizzle over white bread pudding.
It's colorless, flavorless, and tasteless . . . but white.
