I've owned one for awhile, IMO the WD TV Live series is the easiest/fastest/cheapest way to play back downloaded media through your TV. I was thinking of buying an Acer Revo or something to turn into a HTPC with XBMC, but with players like these out, it's not worth the hassle. My WD TV Live has handled 99% of the movies I've thrown at it which are mostly 4-15GB 720P/1080P h.264 bluray rips.

I actually just bought this from newegg today for the same price. Free 3 day ups ground shipping, if I would have known it was the same price on amazon I would have bought from them to take advantage of prime! oh well, waiting one extra day won't kill me.

Is this the normal price of it on newegg? I may or may not get this as a gift for someone in July.

I have one for my primary HTPC and it's so worth the hassle because of the interface.

However, I'm going to get this for other area's in the house. ; )

How does this compare to the Patriot Box Office?

I had a PBO before and just got this from amazon. This is much better. Way better setup and refinement. Not to mention netflix and eventually hulu plus. Not bad at $80 usually is around $100.

The only time the PBO was better was when it was $50 after rebates and the live plus wasn't out yet. I guess if you need an internal drive bay that is the other thing the PBO has going for it

wow didn't know anything like this existed. i've been using my old 360 (dvd drive failed) to stream stuff over my network and do netflix.

I'm happy with mine so far, but I can't get external .srt (subtitle) files to load. I'm sure there is a solution out there somewhere, I just haven't come across it yet with my 5 minute google search. I'll put a better effort in later when I have a little more time unless someone knows off the top of their head how to do it...

The only thing I can think to suggest is to make sure the .srt is named the same as the media file.
