Can't play period, or just no audio?

Haven't used mine in a month +, but the last issue I was having was getting no audio. Had something to do with an update to mkv tools. You could either mux it with the latest version and uncheck some box for an audio option, or simply use an older version and mux it and it would work fine again on the WD.

Can't play period. When attempting to play a video, it would just hang at the loading screen.
Not sure if this might help.
I'm using a WDTV Live + Thermaltake Blacx + 2TB WD Green HDD.
When its "loading", I don't see any activity from the hdd. It seems like its just idling. I'll try the remuxing method though and report back.

post the specs of the mkv. if you need a program to give you the information get this free program http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en

I play all types of mkv all the time across my network and never had a problem. If the header in the mkv is corrupted then it won't play it.

Anyone notice that the WDTV can't play newer MKV's? Does anyone know how to fix this?

It has something to do with the new MKV Merge Header compression (or something like that).

2 Fixes:
1. When you rip or convert your files you have to disable it or opt it out.
2. WDTV releases a new firmware update to support the new MKVs

I had the same issue with my Nixeus Fusion HD (uses the same sigma designs 8655 as the WDTV Live) and after I reported it to them they released a new firmware to support it in almost a week...o_O
So everything is fine and dandy again and I don't have to do anything on my end except update the firmware.
