After trying lots of different routers (and bricking a Linksys WRT54GS), I ended up using two Belkin f5d7320-4 to bridge / extend a network.
I have a situation where the wifi range from a single base station is by far too small and I cannot use cables for the first "hop".
I configured one Belkin f5d7320-4 as the router for the DSL modem and use the second in AP mode with WDS to extend the wifi range.
It works nicely except ... when I use skype or when I play multiple youtube videos (via multiple tabs). I assume it is simply too much traffic.
Here is the strange thing though ... the AP/extender doesn't give me the problem (despite it having to handle the client traffic + the traffic to the router). The router freezes up and the Wifi totally drops (cannot even connect to it directly via wifi ... the whole network is turned off).
That is obviously very annoying.
Any suggestions? what is causing this issue?
Why does the connection work for normal browsing and even large single file downloads ... but as soon as I use skype or open too many tabs the router freezes after 1-2 minutes.
