My 3 drive RAID 0 runs at an average of 280MB/sec with WB cache enabled

EDIT (it's short stroked to 640k, but I still use the rest of the drive on another partition)

I think the new seagate 7200.12 500 GB single platter has it beat by a fair margin.... but.. some are having issues with them crashing and burning.

The difference is very slight and, probably, not even noticable in real world useage. I believe the advantage to the black is a better warranty (if that matters)

I'm using the 640GB Black edition and it is a sweet drive. Very quiet and extemely fast. Black edition drives also have a 5yr. warranty.
