Would a RAID 0 with a WD1001FALS be better then a single 600GB Raptor or even a RAID 0?

Speaking in terms of access speed and write speed?

When it comes to access times, I don't think RAID does anything to improve that. RAID 0 will definitely improve sequential write speed over the 600GB vraptor though.

Ok then looks like I will go with the Blacks would it be worth the cost to get the 64MB of cache drives over the 32?

Unless you have a RAID controller that can negate TLER, the WD drives will give you trouble in an array.

Yes I am aware of that issue. Although I do currently have several arrays with the 32MB cache version in a RAID without TLER so far no problems.

The difference in cache would'nt translate into a significant performance increase with RAID 0 though correct?
