Wd sshd blue 2tb vs wd 7200rpm black 2tb

Interested in maximum performance for my steam drive. 2tb.

Wd black is the fastest traditional hd, but the wd blue sshd numbers look as fast or faster.

Comparable cost between the two.

Thoughts / experiences with either?

Thanks.

Spinners and maximum performance don't go together. Gotta go solid state.

Yes, I understand that a pure ssd would be faster. However, my question was comparing the spinner to the hybrid.

It would normally be no contest in favor of sshd, but oddly, they pair it with a 5400 rpm drive... Bringing the performance margin closer.

So, you still think the sshd is faster?

Hi there.

A Hybrid drive is only has a certain amount of fast storage (cache) for commonly accessed files. This means that the files within the 8GB or so of cache are accessed at SSD speeds, while the rest are accessed at standard HDD speeds.

On the other hand the Black drive has different build-in features for faster loading times compared to the Blue - for instance, a built-in dual-core CPU that makes the drive great for multitasking.

In short, it's up to you. For a single boot drive I'd go with a hybrid because you'll have faster system boots (because of the same NAND cache), and in case you're looking for a secondary storage device I'd suggest the Black drive.

Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Cheers! 🙂

Can we just b** this guy already? All he does is marketing.

'duel coar seepeeyouu' 'great multitasking'... show us how it makes a lick of difference vs WD's own Blues, Barracudas and Toshibas.

I don't think you will notice a difference, overall.

Go for the longest warranty.
