I don't know about you but I would rather have a drive perform than try to strut it's insides.

I agree, the WD740GD beats it in several benchmarks in Storagereview's assessment.

maybe in the process of designing they wouldve realized that once mounted in a case, you wouldnt be able to see the top of the hard drive? Side window or not, the mounting cage blocks the view of the hard drive completely anyway.

What would be impressive if they had LED's on the edge that could light the platters like that clock someone did a few months ago. Show cpu use, disk use, etc.

Slam, Dunk, Score.
Normal people vs. marketing people for the win.

Unfortunately the gamer crowd will eat this up.

I am dissapointed, I was thinking it was about time that they release 15,000 rpm Raptor drive but this isn't much other than looks, the 16 MB cache is a nice feature but then again not as important as drive speed I guess.

15k won't happen on any kind of ATA drive.

Actually 15k would be perfect for WD as they have no competing SCSI products like the other manufactures. :)

15k won't happen in the IDE world. The whole raison d'etre for the Raptors is because their SCSI lined died.
