WD Raptor or 3500+ AMD 64?

Well, heres the situation. I have my current rig picked out and I was originally gonna get a 74gb Raptor with a S939 90nm 3200+ AMD64. Should I get like an 120gb Seagate SATA 7,200rpm and use that extra money I would have used for the raptor to instead replace the 3200 with a 3500? I am a heavy gamer, and this is waht this rig will primarily do - play games.

So basically here -

S939 AMD64 3200 Winchester with 74gb WD Raptor 10k rpm?

-or-

S939 AMD64 3500 Winchester with Seagate 120gb 7,200 rpm?

Which one would benefit me better? I could care less about 3 seconds less loading times.

Are you overclocking? If so you could easily overclock that 3200+ to 3800+ speeds and maybe FX-55 so if you have the money get the Raptor, but I would much rather have more space as 74GB is tiny. You could buy like a 250GB for around the price of a Raptor. If you do not use much space then a Raptor would be fine though.

However if you ae not overclocking definitewly go with the 3500+ as it will give you much better performance rather then getting a slightly faster HDD.

Well, I probably will be OC'ing but since I have never OC'ed I don't wanna risk it and get a 3200 that doesnt OC well.

With a 3200 Winchester, mixed with some good cooling, mobo and RAM you should be able to overclock to at LEAST 2.4GHz. 2.6GHz if your lucky. And there is a sticky in the Overclockign section that should help you out with overclocking. If you do decide to overclock I would get just a 3200+ and a larger drive as a Raptor is not worth it for the slight performance increase.

Well I have 1500$ to spend (not including Vide Card cause I already have a 9800 which im quite happy with, until another 6 months or so) I think I'll just get the 3500 and the seagate.
