Problem is, the 36gb Raptor isn't very much faster (if at all!) than a new 7200RPM hard drive. 36gb -> 72gb wasn't just a storage upgrade - it was a new generation of Raptors. Just look at how much lower seek time went!
It really was a reasonable drive when it first came out, but it's been long surpassed by slower-RPM drives with higher platter densities and caches. You are really, really wasting your money buying it. Anand's review: http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=2073&p=1
Remember that this was more than a year ago, and we've gone through at least one more generation of 7200RPM drives.
... Actually, if I recall, there was an older version of the 36gb that was updated along with the 72gb version. These Rev 2 drives are the only variety you can buy in either 36gb or 72gb, and they're both fast.
