WD Passport not detected

hello everyone, I just bought my external hdd which is a WD Passport 500Gb. I
have been using it for more than a month but unfortunately it was accidentally
dropped from the top of my CPU. it wasn't very high right but now I can't even
access my drive.
windows said it needs to be initialized but it failed to do it. I tried to repair it but
no luck at all. it doesn't have a drive letter at the disk management. the drive
isn't showing at my computer but the usb notification is showing at the
notification bar. now, how if I try to claim its warranty since its just a month old
from me. is it possible?

Unless you purchased it grey-market, it should have warranty for at least a year.

Your data, on the other hand, is most likely toast.

sir, what do you mean by grey market?
I purchased it here, a local company not from the internet and yes it is equipped with a year warranty. but I a bit nervous if my warranty will gonna be void.

If your warranty is the factory warranty, try returning it to the manufacturer. You have, in fact, voided your warranty by dropping the disk but some companies don't even ask. For something like a consumer hard drive, it's much cheaper for them to just send out a replacement (probably a refurbished unit) than to diagnose the disk.

huh returning it to the manufacturer? I'm from the philippines and I don't know if WD has a branch here but I'll try looking for it.

I believe OP needs to do this from the Philippines, not the US. Same principle is involved. He could also just go to the dealer he bought it from and get that info from the dealer.

Go online to the WD site and initiate an RMA. You'll need to type in your serial number of the drive to start the process.
